Read: Psalm 23
You might have probably found yourself in a situation where you were so anxious about the outcome of something, that you spent the whole time overthinking and being anxious. Someone once said that life is a game, and in this game, there are a lot of pitfalls and to win, you need to figure out how to solve your problems.
How do you respond to difficult situations or times when you are in a mess that you don’t know how to overcome? Most times, we go about worrying and being sad, and that’s normal because we are humans. However, the word of God encourages us to be strong and of good courage. Most times, it’s not easy to be peaceful in times of chaos, but we can find so much strength in the word of God.
Here is a story of Maria, who made a very terrible mistake at work, that almost pushed her to resign. She mistakenly sent the wrong email which could have compromised a client’s privacy. That moment when she made the mistake, she almost fainted in her seat, knowing the implications of what she did. Her direct boss threatened that she could get fired if things took a bad turn.
Maria went home that day feeling very bitter and nervous; she was so troubled and could not sleep at night. She could not afford to lose the dream job that took her such a long time to get. All the words of encouragement she got from people she told about it could not keep her calm, the only place she could find some peace was in the word of God. She began to declare the word of God and prayed in the Spirit.
She felt so much better the next day and decided she would show up for work prepared for anything the management would decide. When she got to work, she was told that the General Manager wanted to have a meeting with her. It took a lot of courage for her to walk into that office.
The manager asked her to sit, and said, “It is true that this mistake could have caused the company a lot of damage, considering that the client in question is one of the best clients we have. However, you are lucky and we are saved from a lot of drama because the client whose privacy was breached happens to be my brother-in-law and I have been able to convince him to understand the situation. I also had to go check the records of your work in the company, and I found out you have been doing an excellent job. I can actually convince myself that the mistake you made could be due to too much stress on that day, there was indeed a lot of workload. I can only ask you to be more careful, considering that this job is a very sensitive one. I have also made a couple of mistakes myself. Also, I think you should get a salary raise because I am so impressed with the kind of value you have added to this company since you joined. I will ask HR to implement the salary increase immediately, you can go back to work.”
Maria was dumbfounded, that she did not know whether to start screaming or crying. She had to pinch herself thrice to ensure she was not dreaming, and inside her heart, she kept saying, “Thank you, Jesus, this is such a miracle!” She never saw that coming.
Anxiety meets us at different times in our lives and while it is difficult to keep calm in certain situations, we can find so much peace in the word of God. In the last publication, some helpful scriptures in times of anxiety were shared. In your case, it may not be exactly like what happened to Maria, but the peace alone we get from meditating on God’s word and speaking to God about those hard times is powerful.
Have a peaceful week ahead, Jesus loves you!
Keep in Mind
"Anxiety happens when you think you have to figure out everything all at once. Breathe. You’re strong. You got this. Take it day by day.”
