Read: John 14:26
Hello Friend!
How do you feel when you are being pressured to do something you know is wrong? or how do you feel when you do something you know is wrong and have always been careful about? These two scenarios are moments of weakness; sometimes we can't even tell anyone how we feel. But the question is, what can I do? What can you do?
On a cold, solemn night, Judas sat lonely in a corner thinking of all that had happened. The guilt that gripped his heart was so firm, that it was gradually choking the life out of him.
He could hear two voices from different parts of his head and the more he tried to stop them, the more it felt like he was going crazy.
“Just one moment of weakness that you shouldn’t have allowed and now you’re in this mess. What even came over you? What were you thinking? Do you even have a conscience? How could you do such a thing, something like that has never been heard of, do you even know the terrible record you just made? This story will be told from generation to generation and you will always be remembered for evil.”
“But I tried, I tried, I just couldn’t resist the temptation,” Judas cried.
“Why are you crying Judas? What is it that you did that is new? Someone had to do it and it happened to be you, so, move on! Think of what you can do with all that money, think of the favours you will get from the priests. You will be recognised, you will be rich! You will live the kind of life you’ve always wanted. Don’t be too weak to let something as little as that make you sad. You did the right thing, you had to do it, be a man! Brace up!”
The voices were so loud in his ears and he cried out loud, “I betrayed him! He didn’t deserve to die!”

Guilt means feeling responsible or regretful for a perceived offence. It is a common feeling that comes mostly after doing something we could not have done. In a short moment of weakness, we are usually presented with two choices - to do the right thing or the wrong thing.
At that moment, making the right choice could be difficult because of the surge of emotions that cloud our minds and thinking. In Matthew 26:41, we see that Jesus even told his disciples to pray that they don’t fall into temptation. Sometimes, it could be difficult to choose between right and wrong, but we should never underestimate the power of asking God for help. The Holy Spirit is a helper, a teacher, and a guide.
Today’s message is simply a reminder that, in that short moment of weakness, we can ask for help and save ourselves from the recurring feeling of guilt and worthlessness.
Keep in Mind
"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble."
- Psalms 46:1
Prayer
Father, please give me the grace to overcome temptations that will come my way; help me to find strength in Your word and let the Holy Spirit help me make the right decisions.
