Hymns of Praise

Read: Psalm 150

Hello Friend!

It’s always a good time when we get to sing hymns in Church. It’s not just about the melodies and instruments, hymns hit differently! The lyrics are often so deep and if you take some time to pay attention to those lyrics, you will see the powerful messages in them.


Today, we will be looking at a verse each from 5 different hymns about thanksgiving to God. Pay attention to the deep meaning in those verses; and use the melodious tunes with the lyrics to worship God for how far He has brought you this year. Cheers to a week of favour and good news!

Praise my soul, the King of heaven 

Praise Him for his grace and favour

I will always worship God and my life will always be a spectacle that shows forth His beauty.

When obedience seems hard

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you were in Abraham’s position? God asked him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac — the son he had waited for all his life. Imagine the thoughts that must have run through his mind as he walked toward that mountain, carrying wood and fire but no explanation. Yet, Abraham obeyed. He trusted that even in this impossible command, God had a purpose. His faith reminds us that true obedience sometimes means surrendering what we value most. Sometimes, God asks us to let go of something dear — a dream, a relationship, or even a habit — and our first instinct is to resist. We grumble, argue, or try to reason it out because obedience can feel costly. But obedience, even when hard, is proof of our trust in God. Truly humble?

“True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.” Proverbs 22 : 4 NLT As a Christian, have you ever been convicted in your heart that you were acting out of pride? Sometimes pride creeps in unnoticed—especially when we get carried away with church activities or even personal achievements. Before we realize it, we may start thinking we are the center of attraction instead of giving God the glory.
