Hello friend!
Read: Matthew 13:1-23
Have you ever planted a seed and it grew into a healthy plant? How will you feel if you woke up one day to find your plant all withered?
Once upon a time, a farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he walked through his field, he tossed seeds across the ground, hoping they’d grow perfectly well.
Some seeds landed on the path where the ground was hard. They couldn’t sink in, so they just sat there. Along came some birds, who saw an easy snack, and they gobbled the seeds up before they had a chance to even think about growing.
A few other seeds fell on rocky ground. The seeds actually sprouted up quickly here, but since the soil was shallow and full of rocks, the roots couldn’t go very deep. When the sun came out in full force, these poor little plants got scorched and withered away because they couldn’t hold on to any water.
Then there were seeds that landed among thorns and weeds. They sprouted up and seemed like they might do okay, but the weeds were stronger and kept taking all the light, water, and space. Eventually, the thorns choked the plants, and they couldn’t grow anymore.
But some of the seeds fell on good, rich soil. They got all the nutrients, water, and sunlight they needed. These seeds sprouted, grew strong, and produced a beautiful crop—some thirty, some sixty, and even a hundred times more than what was planted.
In this parable, the farmer symbolizes God, and the seeds represent His word. Just as the seeds performed differently depending on where they landed, so does the word of God take root and grow uniquely within each of us. The state of our hearts determines how we receive and nurture this word. Today’s message is an invitation to open our hearts fully, allowing God’s word to take root and bear abundant fruit in our lives.
Prayer
Dear God, please illuminate my heart with Your word.
