Generous God

Have you heard the story of the widow who had nothing but a small jar of oil? In 2 Kings 4:1–7, a desperate woman approached the prophet Elisha. Her husband had died, her debts were piling up, and her children were about to be taken as slaves. All she had left was a tiny jar of oil—but that was more than enough for God to work with. Through Elisha’s instruction, she poured that oil into as many jars as she could find, and miraculously, the oil didn’t stop flowing until every jar was full. She sold the oil, paid off her debts, and had enough left to live on. This story is a reminder that God is not just able, but willing to meet us at the point of our deepest need. Have you ever been in a place where your heart is weighed down with anxiety and uncertainty? Perhaps you were holding on to a promise or expecting a breakthrough, only for things to take a sudden, unexpected turn. Your hope gets shaken, your faith feels weak, and you begin to wonder— Where is God in all this? Life does have its valleys. The Bible never promises a life without trials. In fact, Isaiah 43:2 reminds us, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” This is not just poetic encouragement—it’s a divine assurance. Even Jesus said in John 16:33, “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.
