A Very Present Help


 

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”  Psalm 46:1 NLT

We are living in times when many troubling things are happening around us. You turn on the internet, television, or radio, and there seems to be another sad story waiting. News of disasters, violence, sickness, hardship, and uncertainty keeps pouring in day and night.

People are going through a lot. Many are suffering. Times are hard. Some are carrying burdens they cannot even talk about. In moments like these, some people begin to ask difficult questions. Is God still there? Does God still answer prayers? Even unbelievers may question your faith and ask, "If your God is alive, why does He allow bad things to happen?"

As Christians, we must not allow ourselves to be swayed by doubt or fear. We must remember that God is alive and He has not changed. Nothing happening in the world today has caught Him by surprise. Before the foundations of the earth were laid, God already knew everything that would happen. The Bible says, "I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens" (Isaiah 46:9-10 NLT).

God is omnipresent. He is everywhere at all times. There is no place where His presence cannot reach. The Psalmist wrote, "I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!" (Psalm 139:7 NLT). Whether in seasons of joy or seasons of difficulty, God remains present with His people.

We must also be careful not to deceive ourselves into thinking that God does not care. Sometimes when prayers seem unanswered or when life becomes difficult, we may feel forgotten. But God's Word tells us otherwise. "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you" (1 Peter 5:7 NLT). His love for us has not diminished. His concern for our lives has not changed.

The fact that we are living in perilous times does not mean God has abandoned us. In fact, Jesus warned that difficult times would come before His return. Yet He also assured us of His presence. "And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20 NLT).

Heaven and earth may pass away, but God's Word remains sure. His promises remain true. His love remains constant. The Lord declares, "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love" (Jeremiah 31:3 NLT). That love is not affected by the changing circumstances of this world.

This is a message of encouragement for anyone who feels afraid, discouraged, or uncertain. The things happening around us may be enough to make people fearful and doubtful, but God's mercy and love are greater than our fears. He is not oblivious to what you are going through. He sees every tear, hears every prayer, and knows every burden you carry.

No matter what is happening around you, remember that God is your refuge. He is your shelter in the storm, your strength in weakness, and your hope in difficult times. He is not far away. He is not absent. He is not silent because He does not care.

He is a very present help.

The world may be filled with uncertainty, but God remains constant. Do not allow fear, bad news, or difficult circumstances to weaken your faith. God is alive, He cares about you, and He is still at work. Trust Him, run to Him, and remember that He is always a very present help in times of trouble.

Giving Thanks in Everything
